The Aracsi Pusztatemplom - Arača

History

In the Serbian part of the Banat region, at the border between Novi Bečej (Törökbecse), Beodra, and Bašaid (Basahíd), the monumental ruins of a brick structure can be found. The church was originally a Romanesque-style, three-naved, basilica-type building with vaulted ceilings, an apse with three semicircular sections, octagonal and clustered pillars, and a west-facing entrance wall. Later, a tower was added over the eastern section of the northern side aisle, in accordance with Franciscan liturgical traditions.

Style

l, a szentélyrész a hozzá csatlakozó északi főhajófal két árkádnyi szakaszával és a toronnyal maradt fenn eredeti állapotban. Ezeket a részeket az 1970-es évek ásatásait követően, a romállapotot továbbra is fenntartva, kiegészítették. A kolostori épületek föld alatti maradványai a templomtól északra terülnek el.

Present day

Today, only the western wall, the sanctuary, two arcades of the northern nave wall, and the tower remain in their original condition. Following excavations in the 1970s, these sections were partially restored, maintaining their ruined state. The underground remains of the monastery buildings are located north of the church. The sanctuary, along with two arcade sections of the northern nave wall and the tower, has remained in its original state. Following archaeological excavations in the 1970s, these parts were partially restored while maintaining the ruinous condition.
