Serednie

Serednie is a settlement in western Ukraine, in Zakarpattia Oblast, within Uzhhorod Raion. It is currently classified as an urban-type settlement. It lies between Uzhhorod and Mukachevo near one of the main internal transport corridors of Zakarpattia. Because of its location, it has long played an important local central role. The surrounding area is known for viticulture and wine-related traditions. Serednie is often associated with historic wine cellars and local wine culture. Administrative, commercial, and basic service functions are concentrated in its center. The settlement stands near the meeting zone of lowland and hilly landscapes. Administratively it belongs to Uzhhorod Raion. In its present form, housing, local institutions, and road connections are key elements of the settlement. Serednie is one of the better-known smaller centers of the interior part of Zakarpattia.
