Orăștie

Orăștie is a city in the central-western part of Romania, in Hunedoara County. It lies near the Mureș corridor at the meeting point of historically important transport routes. Orăștie is a town with a significant past, connected to the edge of the historical Saxon areas of Transylvania. Routes leading toward the Dacian fortresses in the Orăștie Mountains begin near the city, linking it to one of the region's most important archaeological landscapes. Several historic buildings and church monuments stand in the town center. Its urban layout and built heritage preserve traces of medieval and early modern development. Today Orăștie serves local administrative, educational, and economic functions for the surrounding area. The town also has agricultural and industrial connections.
