Korolevo

Korolevo is an urban-type settlement in Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine, in Berehove Raion. It lies on the lowlands near the Tysa and has important transport links and local economic connections. Its historical names and past are closely tied to the heritage of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary. The Hungarian name Királyháza has long been used in historical tradition, while the official Ukrainian name is Korolevo. Near the settlement are the remains of Nyalab Castle, one of the best-known medieval sites in the area. The surrounding area is also notable for its archaeological significance. Because of its railway connections, Korolevo has long functioned as an important local junction. Industry, trade, and agriculture all play a role in local life. The settlement forms part of the multiethnic world of Zakarpattia, where Hungarian historical heritage remains clearly visible. Despite its more urban functions, its surroundings are closely connected to the lowland Tysa landscape.
