Irshava

Irshava is a city in Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine, in Khust Raion. It is situated in the area of the Borzhava River basin in a hilly landscape. The settlement serves as a local administrative and service center for surrounding villages. Through its road connections, it functions as one of the smaller urban nodes of inner Zakarpattia. The city's economy has traditionally been shaped by local trade, processing activity, and an agricultural hinterland. Its institutions include schools, health services, and administrative offices. The historical development of Irshava follows the pattern of a rural district center. The Hungarian place name is known from the period of historical Hungarian administration. The surrounding landscape forms a transition between lowland and mountain areas. Today the city is primarily a local center rather than a large regional metropolis. Irshava is an important smaller town in the settlement network of southeastern inner Zakarpattia.
