Ilia
Ilia is a commune center in Hunedoara County, Romania, in the Mureș Valley. It is not a town but the administrative seat of a commune. Its location places it in an important transport area connected with the wider zone of Deva and the Mureș corridor. The nearby Mureș River defines its geographical setting. Ilia is a long-established settlement in a transitional part of northern Hunedoara County. The commune includes several villages. Today the settlement serves local administrative, residential, and service functions for the surrounding countryside. Its transport connections are favorable toward major routes in the county. Its built character is more rural and small-scale than industrial. Agricultural land and river-valley landscapes surround the settlement. Ilia is one of the traditional commune centers of Hunedoara County.
