Esen
Esen is a village in Zakarpattia Oblast, western Ukraine, within Uzhhorod Raion. It lies close to the Hungarian border, in the broader area of Chop. The settlement forms part of a historically important borderland zone. Its Hungarian name is Eszeny, while its Ukrainian name is Esen. The surrounding landscape is lowland in character, with land suitable for agriculture. The local population reflects the multilingual and multiethnic features of Zakarpattia. The village is situated in an area of transport significance because of its proximity to border crossings and major routes. It is also connected to the historical legacy of Ung County. The built environment is rural, with predominantly detached housing. Esen continues to exist as an inhabited locality in the administrative system of Ukraine.
