Chop
Chop is a city in western Ukraine, in Zakarpattia Oblast, within Uzhhorod Raion. It lies near the Tisza River in the border area close to Hungary and Slovakia. Although small in size, it is an important border city and railway junction of national significance. Major rail and road routes linking Ukraine with Central Europe converge here. The settlement has long developed around transport and cross-border movement. Its railway station is one of the best-known transfer and border traffic points in the region. Because of its location, the city reflects a multiethnic and multilingual borderland environment. Administratively it belongs to Uzhhorod Raion. In the present-day urban landscape, transport infrastructure and service functions are especially prominent. Chop is widely associated with border transit, logistics, and international connections. The city is one of the key gateway settlements of the Zakarpattian lowland zone.
