Certeju de Sus

Certeju de Sus is a commune in Hunedoara County, Romania, located north of Deva on the edge of the Metalliferous Mountains in western Transylvania. The settlement lies in a hilly area connected to the wider Mureș basin. It serves as the administrative center of a commune that includes several smaller villages. The name of the area is closely linked with the region’s mining past, as gold and other ore extraction has long been associated with the surrounding zone.
