Batiovo

Batiovo is an urban-type settlement in Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine, in Berehove Raion. It is known as an important railway junction, a role that has long shaped its economic and transport significance. The settlement is not located in Uzhhorod Raion but belongs to the administrative area centered on Berehove. Its position in the lowlands and relative proximity to the Hungarian border add to its importance. Batiovo is a multiethnic locality in which the Hungarian community has historically been significant. Railway facilities and transport infrastructure are among the defining features of the settlement’s character. The place is widely known in Transcarpathia by its Hungarian name, Bátyú. Its present-day role is linked both to transportation and to local services. Its history is also connected to the region’s shifting state borders and administrative changes.
