Baia de Criș

Baia de Criș is a commune in Hunedoara County, Romania, located in the upper valley of the Crișul Alb in the northwestern part of the county. It lies in a hilly and mountainous area belonging to the Metalliferous Mountains of western Transylvania. The settlement is the administrative center of a commune that includes numerous smaller villages. Its name and history are closely connected with mining, which was one of the defining historical activities of the wider region.
